New intern · April 2026 Welcome to Doreen Morineau, MaHeWa intern modelling marine heatwaves with deep learning |
|
Doreen Morineau is currently completing a Master’s degree in Physics and Ocean Data Science and is joining the MaHeWa project for a five-month internship at IRD Nouméa (from April to August 2026), under the supervision of Morgan Mangeas (UMR Entropie), Sophie Cravatte (UMR LEGOS), and Christophe Menkès (UMR Entropie).
Her work focuses on modelling the spatio-temporal dynamics of the ocean to anticipate the occurrence and evolution of marine heatwaves. She is developing a deep learning model to forecast sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies on timescales ranging from one to four weeks, using SST data from the GLORYS ocean reanalysis. |
